About Me

Luanne Riley Stout is an author of mystery/suspense novels.  She is currently  querying agents to represent her series of mystery novels featuring Avery Algarotti.

One Obsession Not Gone is a mystery/suspense novel, final word count 103,000 words. Though captivating on its own, this is the first book in a series told in the first-person voice of Avery Algarotti. She is unique, yet reminiscent of the lovability of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum, the investigative instincts of James Patterson’s Lindsay Boxer, and the psychological insights of Jonathan Kellerman’s Alex Delaware. In this novel, she overcomes trauma and loss to rediscover herself…and prevail over the violent psychopaths who pursue her.

Avery Algarotti always dreamed of being an FBI profiler. She even got a degree in forensic psychology and published a thesis on serial killers. Then her fear drove her to a seemingly safer career. Enter Henry Bayliss…stalker, abductor, rapist. She escaped him after three days of terror. Still afraid, she abandoned her life in Dallas, adopted a new identity, and moved to the rural Northeast Texas town of Cassiano, where she owns and operates the Main Street Café.

Four years later, life comes full circle when a series of local murders reawakens Avery’s interest in psychopaths who kill. At the same time, there are signs that her past terrors may be coming back to haunt her. Handsome police chief Will Rossner is initially annoyed by her investigative interference, then intrigued. All clues lead to one suspect until dramatic twists change the course of the investigation and put it on a collision course with Avery’s worst fears. Then a series of terrifying events threaten her life all the way to the nail-biting conclusion…and give her the courage to be herself and finally overcome her fears.

Luanne has loved writing for her entire life, and has published numerous nonfiction articles on health care governance in national trade journals (see Publications). However, her passion has been mystery/suspense novels since she read Nancy Drew in the second grade. She always wanted to write them and finally did…then kept going with a passion. Her characters have become her fictitious friends, and rural Northeast Texas her home. Now she is anxious to share her mysteries with others. She is a committed member of Mystery Writers of America and Writers’ League of Texas and often benefit from their events and resources.

Luanne was previously a health care governance consultant who provided expertise, guidance, facilitation, training, and other services to organizations, governing boards, CEOs, chief governance officers, and others. She worked in health care governance for many years, including serving as chief governance officer of a large multi-business unit health care organization for over 20 years.  She has established herself as a respected governance expert across the country and has been featured in numerous industry journals and as a speaker at conferences and workshops.

Luanne holds a masters degree in health care administration and a bachelors degree in health care administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.
